Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American actress and singer whose acting versatility earned her praise across many genres from period drama to action and thriller. Johansson was born in New York City, and was raised by an father who was an architect and her mother, a producer. The twin brothers Hunter and she were the youngest siblings. As a child, she began acting. In fact, by the age of 7 She had auditioned for commercials in a variety of different ways. To enhance her acting skills, she joined classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Manhattan and then she attended the Professional Children's School. In the Off-Broadway production Sophistry she acted alongside Ethan Hawke. She then made her first film appearance on screen in North (1994) which was produced by Rob Reiner, at age nine. Johansson was next seen on screen in Just Cause (1995), prior to her breakthrough in the film Manny & Lo - a tale about two sisters who are orphans, who manage to get away.
